Oñate High School History
Oñate High School was originally located in the Sierra Middle School building in 1988 before construction of the current building in 1994. OHS was the third public high school built in the Las Cruces area with a current student population of 1,500+ students. The school was to be built with a planetarium and is home to the districts largest performing arts center. The school was built to look like a castle, from its brick to its layout, and has a royal theme. To match the theme, black and white were chosen as the schools colors with the Knight chosen as the school mascot.
