Welcome back to another great semester of the Onate High School RKR Band. This semester proves to be exciting for all aspects of the program.
We first want to welcome our student teacher Ms. Lankford. She comes to us from NMSU as a music education major. She is a trumpet player and great future educator.
Jazz Bands are off and running. We have 4 full big bands at Onate. They are meeting regularly and preparing for contests and festivals.
The concert bands are also making great gains. We have 3 concert bands this semester and all of them are playing challenging literature. Contests and festivals will also be part of their semester.
The percussion ensembles are doing exciting things. The 1st period ensemble will be featured around the area soon. Make sure you plan to watch them. Mr. Tino Leyba is also going to be teaching drumlines and percussion at Mesa Middle School this semester.
The winter guard under the direction of Ms. Katie Mullen, Ms. Amanda Adams & Mr. Cecil Crabtree are already in competition mode. They begin January 18 in performance in El Paso at Del Valle High School.
The Spring Schedule of Events has been updated, please download a current copy or see the Events Calendar page.

Class Fees and Financial Responsibilities
As you know every good program requires a financial responsibility in order to maintain success. Students of the band are the ambassadors of the entire Oñate High School. In order to function as a program, we must require a financial responsibility. There are 3 basic fees that your child will be responsible for throughout the year. We divide them this way for ease of understanding.
Student Necessities-Shirts, Hats, Shoes etc. meaning if they wear it, they buy it. These funds cannot be fundraised.
Class Fees-are established to help fund the general budget of the band. These fees are for music, staff, transportation, equipment, materials, etc.
Fundraised Monies-every student is expected to fundraise above and beyond in order to help support the general fund of the band. The more we fundraise the more we can do as a group, which betters the experience for the entire band.
Details may be found by clicking here: Student Fees or by accessing the Downloads page..
The Oñate Royal Knight Regiment 2013-2014 Schedule of Events can be found here or on the Downloads page. As always, fundraising is very important and necessary for the RKR Band to function, so please make note of the fundraising dates on the 2nd page. The dates have been added to the events calendar.
